Tenants Award Postponed Due to Heavy Snow
A new tenants award being supported by the Yorkshire cancer charity, The Jane Tomlinson Trust will be presented in the early Spring 2011.
Mike Tomlinson, husband of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE whose heroic fundraising has supported cancer and children's charities, has welcomed a range of awards launched by Leeds Tenants Federation to celebrate the voluntary effort of the tenants movement across the city.
The Jane Tomlinson award for tenants who have overcome adversity was to have been presented by Suzanne Tomlinson a ceremony on 2 December 2010 but heavy snow meant the event had to be postponed. The awards ceremony will now be rearranged for early Spring.
Other awards will go to the tenants who have taken a stand against anti-social behaviour and to those individuals and their tenants associations who have dedicated their time to bettering their neighbourhoods.
Linda McNeil, chair of Leeds Tenants Federation said: "We are very proud to be the first non-sporting organisation to be given the right to present an award in the name of the Jane Tomlinson Trust."
"Jane Tomlinson overcame incredible adversity in the fight against cancer. These awards from Leeds Tenants Federation celebrate the fight against adversity made by tenant volunteers in Leeds make their communities safer and stronger."
