Celebrating diversity
Leeds Tenants Federation celebrates cultural diversity in Leeds.
Hundreds packed into Leeds Civic Hall to enjoy Leeds Tenants Federation’s spectacular#ff0066"> Come#0033ff">2#009900">gether celebration on March 5 2005.
This colourful and enjoyable showcase of the wonderful talent in our diverse communities was attended by 300 people. The event featured Bollywood dancers, Nigerian drummers, Malawian choirs, break dancers from Gipton, Gospel singers from Burnantofts, henna painters from Alwoodley and lots, lots more. There was food from different cuisines from around the world and young and old enjoyed a fabulous day.
As Chapeltown poet, Pauline Jones said in a poem written specially for Leeds Tenants Federation: “ You know we all still have to live, so many different cultures, have so much to give. Do you know your neighbour’s culture? Well it all starts here today, as Leeds Tenants Federation brings communities together in such a unique way”.
