In Safe Hands - building a safeguarding network

Leeds Tenants Federation is building a network of people in evey neighbourhood in the city who are trained to recognise the signs of abuse and neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This network of people from residents groups will be trained to be safeguarding champions and we are interviewing, training and police checking a network of volunteers who will be confident that they know how to spot and how to refer cases ofabuse.

We are running a series of training sessions for residents who are nominated by their residents associations, and these volunteers are going on to be police checked and to take part in further training delivered by the Leeds Safeguarding Children Board.

Leeds Tenants Federation has published an Adult Safeguarding Policy that demonstrates our commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of all vulnerable people in the city.

Leeds Tenants Federation has also revised its Child Protection Policy to provide a model policy for community groups and this has been accredited with the NSPCC.
