Tenant Talk-Back

Tenant Talk-Back is one of Leeds Tenants Federation's high profile inspection services, involving residents in the regulation of their landlord.

Our 400 strong Tenant Talk-Back panel respond to surveys to give their views on aspects of their landlord's service.

Representing the views of tenants from 10 different landlords operating in Leeds, the Tenant Talk-Back panel provides a powerful gauge of the satisfaction of tenants with their services.

Our first Tenant Talk-Back survey on opportunities to participate was carried out in Autumn 2007. The results focus attention on the impact and effectiveness of the range of tenant involvement opportunities offered by social landlords in Leeds today.

Up to a third of all tenants who take part in focus groups and satisfaction surveys believe that no notice is taken of their views and one in four tenants at this level of involvement are not satisfied that they are getting a real say in decision-making.

The headline figure on satisfaction with involvement opportunities (BVPI 75A) masks a more complex picture where tenants enter into consultation exercises without any confidence that their views will be taken on board.

Moreover, tenant involvement does not appear to be a major factor in overall tenant satisfaction with the landlord’s service.
