Tenants in the Lead

To celebrate the new powers for tenants organisations included in the Housing & Regeneration Bill, Leeds Tenants Federation held a major conference on tenant-led regulation.

The conference 'Tenants in the Lead' was held on Tuesday 26 February 2009 at the Thackray Museum in Leeds. Key note speakers included Marilyn Thornley, from TPAS, Frank Fletcher, from TAROE, Simon Rogers, chief executive of Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing and Graeme Foster, Audit Commission Lead Inspector.

There were workshops on how tenants can monitor their landlord's performance through tenant inspections and mystery shopping and satisfaction surveys, and a debate on the potential of the new National Tenants Voice that led to a position statement produced by Leeds Tenants Federation (see link to the right).
