What We Do

What the Leeds Tenants Federation does

Strategic representation

Leeds Tenants Federation seeks Involvement in Decision-making to represent the views of residents on strategic decision-making bodies and seeks to influence city-wide and regional policy on key issues affecting our homes and neighbourhoods.

We run Major Consultation events to enable residents to shape the strategic decisions that affect their communities. These events have succeeded in attracting members of hard to reach communities and people who do not normally go to meetings. High profile conferences, Question Time events and debates enable local people to engage in strategic issues and bring the decision-makers face to face with the people. We also hold quarterly meetings with residents to develop tenant-led policies on issues of community safety, housing strategy, regeneration, and neighbourhood management.

Leeds Tenants Federation leads in the provision of independent Tenant-Led Regulation services to landlords and provides models of Good Practice in resident involvement. We Campaign on key issues for tenants and residents in the region. We believe that social housing is a public good not a welfare safety net. We want social housing to offer a real alternative to home ownership.

Local involvement

We provide a range of services to tenants and residents to enable them to participate in the running of their homes and communities. These services include providing a programme of training in citizenship and housing skills, giving advice and publicity services to groups and granting financial support.

Our annual Service Plan contains details of our programme of work and our achievements are published in our Annual Reports.
